Chicago Lakefront 50K

Getting ready to start our adventure

Post-race high

On October 30th, Tim and I embarked on a running challenge - completing the Chicago Lakefront 50K. For those of you not familiar with the metric system, a 50K is 31 miles. Yes, we voluntarily ran that far. No, no one paid us for this feat.

It was a lovely fall Saturday, temperatures in the 40s and winds gusting up to 20 mph. Our goal was to finish and we succeeded with flying colors! I finished in 6 hrs 27 mins and Tim finished in 6 hrs 35 mins.

Memorable Moment:

* Watching the sun rise over Lake Michigan

* Drinking Coke and eating potato chips at every aid station

* Being encouraged by random strangers

* Dodging cyclist who rode by at 25 mph

* Being able to use an actual bathroom rather than a tree while running

* Finishing at the same time at the winner of the 50 MILE race

* The petting zoo and pony rides that were set up at the finish line

* Adding another medal to our collection

  3. Hey...let's plan a family run for one of the Ultras. We can all take turns pushing the baby strollers! Wouldn't that be great fun! It's a plan! xoxoxoxox Jacks/Mom
