This weekend Tim and I ventured to Holland, Mi to spend time with Casey and to watch the 112th annual Pull. For those of you who don't know, the Pull is a giant tug-of-war between the freshmen and sophomore classes at Hope College. There are 18 "pullers" on each team and they pull for up to 3 hours across the Black River. The goal is to pull as much of the rope as possible onto your side of the river. We got to witness the Pull from both sides of the river. The Freshmen (odd year) were pretty intense with their battle cries and mohawks. The Sophomores (even year) simply got down to business and won the Pull in 1.5 hours. Being an odd year alum, I was disappointed by the outcome. But fun was had by all and Tim was pretty impressed.
